Upper Mustang trek is trekking to the old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang, is closely associated to the Tibetan culture, geography and languages. It is a Trans Himalayan mountain area with the natives as Thakali, Gurung or Tibetan. The Upper Mustang region has plentiful of Buddhist culture and the life there is circulated within tourism, animal husbandry and trade. It’s a completely different society with the best taste of Himalayan villages and lifestyle.
Since the place was restricted for outsiders until October 1991, Upper Mustang is still known as the Last Forbidden Kingdom of Nepal. The beauty there is unspoiled and preserved throughout these many years. The local monarchy ruled by King Jigme Dorje Palbar Bista for more than half a century came to an end when the centuries- old monarchy of Nepal was eradicated in 2008.
Upper Mustang is encircled by Himalayas and enriched with spiritual & cultural experiences. The landscapes and desert beauty along with the strong wind from north of valley in the afternoon makes the whole trek more challenging.
